George Borkowski Joins RIAA as Acting Director of Civil Litigation
“We are delighted to have George join our legal team,” said Cary Sherman, RIAA’s Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel. “He brings with him many years of practice in matters of copyright, patent and trademark infringement and entertainment law,” said Sherman.
Borkowski is on loan to the RIAA from the Los Angeles office of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp where he served as the co-chair of their Technology and Intellectual Property Practice Group and as a partner within the Litigation Department. His expertise lies in the fields of technology and intellectual property, Internet law, antitrust and unfair competition, trade secrets, defamation, entertainment and complex business litigation.
Borkowski holds a juris doctorate from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
The RIAA is a trade association whose members create, manufacture and/or distribute approximately 90 percent of all legitimate sound recordings produced and sold in the United States.
