Washington, D.C.— Musicians On Call has announced that CQ Roll Call will serve as the exclusive print media partner for their benefits at both the Republican and Democratic 2012 Presidential Conventions. The presenting sponsors for the charity events are the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. RIAA will co-produce the two events.
This partnership will help raise money for Musicians On Call, the charity that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, VA hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. The event will be held on Tuesday night, August 28th in Tampa, FL, and Tuesday night, September 4th in Charlotte, NC.
“We are honored and excited to be partnering with CQ Roll Call for our charity events in Tampa and Charlotte this year,” said Dr. Leslie Faerstein, Executive Director of Musicians on Call.
“CQ Roll Call is widely known as a go-to news source for what’s happening throughout Washington,” said Cary Sherman, Chairman and CEO of RIAA. “We are especially thrilled that the reputable CQ Roll Call brand will help serve to uniquely highlight the wonderful work of the Musicians On Call charity in helping wounded soldiers experience the joy of music as they undergo medical treatment. We look forward to our charity events with all our partners, which are sure to keep up the tradition of being memorable and entertaining for audiences.”
“The conventions not only provide a time to raise our voices in the democratic process, they offer an opportunity to highlight what is important to us as a country,” added Mitch Bainwol, Chairman & CEO of the Auto Alliance. “We all owe tremendous gratitude to our military and their families, and Musicians On Call gives them a great gift -- the healing power of music. The Auto Alliance is pleased to partner with CQ and RIAA on such a worthy event.”
“CQ Roll Call has traditionally had a large presence at both political conventions and we’re excited to continue that,” said Mark Walters, SVP and Group Publisher of CQ Roll Call. “We’re teaming up with RIAA and the Auto Alliance to provide an outstanding convention party, featuring top talent, that benefits Musicians On Call. This will be one of the highlights of the convention week, both in Tampa and Charlotte.”
CQ Roll Call will publish a special edition of CQ Weekly, as well as a convention-edition of Roll Call, distributed Monday through Thursday at both the Republican and Democratic conventions. David Hawkings’ CQ Roll Call’s Daily Briefing newsletter will publish each afternoon.
