RIAA Comments on Copyright Office's 'Making Available' Report

WASHINGTON—The United States Copyright Office recently issued its report on the ‘making available’ right in the United States. Below is a comment on the report from Steve Marks, Chief, Digital Business & General Counsel, RIAA:

“After considering substantial comments from numerous stakeholders, we are gratified that the Copyright Office has confirmed its longstanding position that the making available right exists under current U.S. law.  We trust the courts will take notice of this persuasive authority, and interpret the law accordingly.”
