RIAA NAMES GEORGE YORK SVP, INTERNATIONAL POLICY

WASHINGTON – Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Chairman & CEO Cary Sherman today announced the hiring of veteran trade official George York as RIAA’s Senior Vice President, International Policy.  York joins the association’s public policy team and reports to RIAA Executive Vice President, Public Policy & Industry Relations Michele Ballantyne.

Before joining the RIAA, George York was Deputy Assistant United States Trade Representative in USTR’s Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation.  He also served as Trade Counsel for the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, Associate General Counsel at USTR, and as an associate in the International Trade Group of the law firm Mayer Brown, LLP.

“We are excited to welcome George to the RIAA family,” said Cary Sherman. “He brings a wealth of knowledge on a variety of issues that are critically important to our business, from the protection of intellectual property abroad to international trade laws and beyond. George is a well-respected leader in his field and we are delighted he has joined our team.”

York earned his B.A. from Brown University, his MSc from the London School of Economics, and his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
