In 2021 RIAA published an updated “50 States of Music” website. The improved version updates economic impact data of the music industry on U.S. GDP, jobs supported, and the number of music-related establishments based on the recent study from Economists Inc. The site also includes a wide range of information on music’s cultural contribution by state, including number of artists and songwriters, live venues, music schools, conferences, and more. The RIAA partnered with A2IM, ASCAP, BMI, GMR, NIVA, NMPA, SAG-AFTRA, SESAC, and SoundExchange to pool this information and provide a broad view of the industry’s significance in the U.S.
