RIAA Names K. Kim Atterbury as Senior Vice President of Media Relations

Washington, D.C. (December 3, 2019) – The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) today announced that it has named K. Kim Atterbury as Senior Vice President of Media Relations, effective immediately.

“We are excited to welcome Kim Atterbury to our team,” said Brendan Daly, Chief Communications Officer of RIAA. “Her strong skills and relationships, love of music, and deep communications experience will be a great asset as we continue our work for a sustainably healthy music ecosystem.”

As SVP of Media Relations, Atterbury will lead RIAA’s media relations and messaging strategy.

“I am delighted to join the RIAA because this position combines two of my loves—music and communications,” said Atterbury. “I look forward to working with the team to tell the stories and share the priorities of the music community.”

Atterbury joins RIAA from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), where she oversaw the day-to-day management of its communications department and key initiatives. Prior to SEIU, Atterbury served as senior director of communications and external affairs at the National Urban League. While there, she spearheaded all communications, digital, and external affairs strategies for the league’s Washington Bureau—the organization’s policy, research, and advocacy arm.

From 2011 to 2015, Atterbury was communications director to Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) during his tenure as Vice Chair and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. She has also held positions at West End Strategy Team and the State of Florida Senate.

Kim is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University and holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University. She loves reggae, hip hop, and rap.
